Smart Sounds Essentials Program

The Smart Sounds Essentials Program features previous-generation hearing aid technology at a significantly reduced cost. Essentials devices are fully functional and professionally fitted, but they do not include all of the latest features available in the standard Smart Sounds Program. They are an excellent choice for patients who need reliable hearing support and want to keep costs manageable.

Essentials devices are previous-generation models and may have limited manufacturer support compared to current-generation devices. Dr. Finkler will discuss the specific devices available in each Essentials tier during your consultation so you can make a fully informed decision.
Prefer to start with just the hearing aids?
If you would prefer to purchase hearing aids without the bundled service plan, unbundled pricing is available for every tier. Unbundled pricing is $1,500 less than the bundled price shown above. Follow-up care, adjustments, clean and check visits, and supplies are available separately through WMMAS's standard service rates.
Most patients find that the bundled Smart Sounds Program offers significantly better long-term value, since professional follow-up care over three years would typically cost more than the $1,500 difference when purchased individually. That said, unbundled pricing is here for patients who prefer it.

Unbundled pricing includes the hearing aid fitting, programming, and real ear measurement verification. Supplies, service visits, and adjustments are billed separately at standard rates.
Flexible ways to pay
WMMAS accepts HSA and FSA funds, as well as standard payment methods including credit card, debit card, cash, and check. Flexible payment plans are available through Cherry financing for patients who want to spread the cost over time. Itemized superbills with CPT codes are available upon request for patients who wish to seek reimbursement from their insurance provider. WMMAS cannot guarantee insurance reimbursement.

Every WMMAS patient receives a thorough hearing evaluation before any hearing aid recommendation is made. Dr. Finkler will walk you through the options that fit your audiogram, your lifestyle, and your budget during your consultation. There is no pressure to decide on the day of your evaluation.

When your service plan period ends, all of the same professional services remain available through WMMAS at standard service rates. You will never lose access to care. The service plan simply means those visits are prepaid and included for the plan period.

The Smart Sounds Program features current-generation hearing aid technology from WMMAS's partner manufacturers. The Smart Sounds Essentials Program features previous-generation devices at a lower price point. Both programs are professionally fitted and include a service plan, but Essentials devices have fewer advanced features and may have more limited manufacturer support. Dr. Finkler will walk you through the specific differences during your consultation.

Possibly. Upgrade paths from Essentials devices to current-generation hearing aids depend on the specific manufacturer and model involved, and options vary. If upgrading is something you want to keep open as a future possibility, mention it to Dr. Finkler during your consultation so she can factor that into her recommendation from the start.

Yes. In accordance with Michigan law, all hearing aid purchases include a minimum 30-day trial period. If your hearing aids are not the right fit, Dr. Finkler's first priority is to find a device that works better for you. Whether that means adjusting the programming, trying a different style, or switching to a different manufacturer altogether, the goal is to get you to the right solution rather than simply walking away from better hearing. If after working through those options you still wish to return your devices, a refund of the device cost is available within the trial period minus the non-refundable professional fitting fee.
